Native Americans Are Among The Most Likely To Die Of Covid-19
The Copper River Native Association said on Friday, January 29th that the Indian Health Service has confirmed that it will supply CRNA with vaccines for Native American recipients 18 and older in February. CRNA is also offering vaccines to everybody over 55 years old. This is a level of response that is not available in most of the United States.
The new 18+ year old availability applies to all Alaska Natives in the region, and is not limited to Ahtna/CRNA tribal members, CRNA said.
Vaccines at CRNA in Tazlina also remain available for anyone 55 and over and for critical infrastructure workers, as outlined by Alaska state guidance.
Currently, CRNA has vaccinated over 300 Copper Valley residents with the first of two required doses. Nearly 100 of those have received the second vaccine.
State authorities are urging the public to return to the site of their first dose to receive the followup dose in the proper time frame, with the correct brand of vaccine.
