Fred Meyer, operated by Kroger, says employees who get a full dose of Covid-19 vaccine and have a proof of vaccination will receive $100. Kroger and other large grocers have been dealing with major outbreaks among store employees.

On January 31st, 2021, a brand new West Virginia Krogers had an outbreak of Covid-19 that affected two dozen workers. Costco has also had problems with Covid. A month ago, on January 4th, Yakima Washington said that 174 Costco employees in a single Costco store at Union Gap had been hit with Covid.

The offer to employees by Kroger/Fred Meyer was made in the first week of February 2021.

If someone who works for Kroger-affiliated stores can't get the vaccine because they have medical or religious reasons, they'll still be able to receive the payment – if they finish a health and safety course instead.

There are 11 Fred Meyer stores in Alaska, according to store web information. There are 16 store brands (including Ralph's, Harris Teeter, Bakers and City Market) in the Kroger "family of companies" their web site says.

The site also said that there are "limited quantities" of the vaccine available to the public in "select" Fred Meyer locations in Alaska – for health care workers and seniors over 65.
