Injuries Were Not Considered To Be "Life-Threatening"
March 20, 2021: Two people were stabbed in the Boardroom Pub in downtown Valdez on Thursday night, March 18th. The suspect was 38-year old Antonio Delmonte.
The attack happened at around 11:30 pm. When police arrived, a customer at the bar was holding down the suspect, and the two injured people had been stabbed in the head and chest. Reports were that the cuts were "non-threatening." The victims were taken to the hospital in Valdez, according to Valdez Police.
Witnesses said that one of the people cut was grabbed by the head, and slashed across the jaw. The second person was stabbed in the chest while trying to come to the rescue, witnesses told police.
Police said witnesses told them the suspect tried to clean and dispose of the knife. Police said they then found the knife with blood and hair on it, 75 feet behind the bar – outdoors.
The suspect was also injured in the fracas, and was transported to the Valdez Medical Center for further care.
Then Antonio Delmonte was sent to the Valdez Regional Jail and charged with Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the 3rd Degree, and Tampering With Physical Evidence, according to the Valdez Police Department.
