...Daisy Northway Recalls 1947 Smallpox Epidemic

As told by Mark Thiessen & Becky Bohrer, Associated Press

On October 5th, 2021, the Associated Press released a heartbreaking story about the people of Tanacross, who live near Tok, north of Ahtna Country. Tanacross Village's health needs are served by the Upper Tanana Health Center in Tok.

Tanacross has strong historic ties to the Ahtna people, particularly in the northern part of the Copper Valley.

The tale, which is illustrated with photographs, shows the plight of Tanacross village and its people as they deal with Covid-19.

Here's a link to the story, as it was republished in the Anchorage Daily News
