It's A Seller's Market In Alaska...

June 6th, 2022

A story in Monday's Anchorage Daily News says prices of housing all over Alaska is going up. It said the the "average" sale cost of a bank financeable home has risen to $389,000.

Apparently Juneau has the highest housing costs in the state. According to the story, prices are rising in spite of higher interest rates. The catch is that a house must be able to be financed by a bank in order to be sold easily.

The buying cost of an Anchorage home is going up. Way up.

A story in the Anchorage Daily News just presented the cost of $420,000 as the "average" sale cost for one of those homes in Anchorage.

This is significantly higher than the January 2022 Zillow estimate of "only" $330,000 to buy an Anchorage home.

The Rocket Homes January 2022 estimate for an average Anchorage home was $349,997.

Apparently, people are so desperate they're paying up to $50,000 over the listed price, according to the ADN.
