Alaska Native Covid Deaths Are 3 Times Higher Than White Alaskans

Currently Natives make up around 20% of all Alaskans.

However, Alaska Natives are hospitalized with Covid at 3 times the rate of white Alaskans, says the CDC. For every 100,000 indigenous Alaskans, there have been 742 Covid-related hospitalizations. This compares to 273 hospitalizations per 100,000 white Alaskans.

Alaska Natives also have a Covid-related death rate that's 3 times the white rate. The CDC says that 297 Natives have died from Covid, per 100,000 people. In the white Alaskan community, 104 people per 100,000 die.
