Statewide Unofficial Results, Some Absentee ballots will be counted tomorrow
Division of Elections
The results below do not include the totals for absentee and overseas ballots, which will be tabulated as they come in. After all the absentee and overseas ballots, with correct postmarks, are counted, any candidate receiving over 50% of the vote will be declared the winner.
In races where no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, the Division of Elections will begin the ranked choice voting tabulation.
Early votes cast through the Thursday before election Day will be counted on Election Night after 8:00 p.m. All Early votes cast after Thursday will be counted on the 7th day after Election Day.
(We calcululate that means on Tuesday, the 15th.) Some absentee ballots (mail, online, fax, in-person, special needs) will be counted Election Night after 8:00 p.m.
The Division of Elections estimates that the rank choice count will take place on November 23rd, at 4 pm.
Ranked choice voting is basically an "instant runoff" election, in which a candidate running for an office that receives the lowest percent of ballots is eliminated, and their "second choice" is counted. This is repeated until a candidate receives over 50% of the vote and is declared the winner.
Some candidates appear to have already gotten their required 50% needed to win. However, they will not be declared the winner until all absentee and overseas ballots are counted.
