Burn suspension lifted in Fairbanks, Delta, and Copper River

Burn Suspensions Lifted in Fairbanks, Delta, and Copper River
Due to moderated fire behavior in the interior and the redistribution of resources to local areas, along with improving weather conditions, the Division of Forestry & Fire Protection has rescinded the burn suspension in Fairbanks, Delta, and Copper River. As of Tuesday, July 15th, 2025, these burn suspensions are no longer in effect.
While the burn suspension is being lifted, there are still active fires in the interior of the state. Human start fires are the majority of the fires in the state of Alaska. Safe burning is a priority, and proper burning practices are still required.
All open burning, and other burning covered under the large and small burn permits is authorized. Please follow the burn permit regulations such as having water on site, burning only natural materials, have ground cleared to mineral soil around the burn and stay with the fire until it is completely out and cold to the touch.
Permits can be obtained online and at local fire departments. For any assistance in obtaining a permit, or if you have any questions regarding burning, please call the Division of Forestry’s local office.
The Division of Forestry & Fire Protection evaluates weather and fuel conditions daily to determine fire danger. Please call the local area Burn Permit Hotline, and it will be updated with details on wind advisories, burn suspensions, or burn closures.
