After Winning This Year's CB300 Sled Dog Race, Brent Sass Aces The Iditarod, Too

 The Copper Basin 300 Was Invented To Help Mushers Win The Longer Iditarod 

When the Copper Basin 300 Sled Dog Race first got off the ground in 1990, one of its stated goals was providing a tough mini-version of the types of terrain and roadblocks that mushers in the Iditarod would face.

The CB300 provides the training wheels for future winners. 

This year, Brent Sass showed how it's done. After winning the 2022 Copper Basin 300, Sass has gone on to win his first Iditarod – on his seventh try. 

He beat the favorite, Dallas Seavey. Sass had 11 dogs when he finished. He won $50,000. 

Seavey has had 5 wins, tying with Rick Swenson.
