 TAZLINA & KLUTINA RIVER BRIDGEWORK

Report From DOT. Friday, August 22, 2025 

Richardson Highway MP 97-106.5 Resurfacing

PROJECT OVERVIEW: 

Work has begun and will take place daily from 6 a.m. to 6 pm. Work includes: culvert replacement, ditch work, paving, and bridge work on the Tazlina and Klutina River. Bridge work is expected to continue through the end of July 2026. 

TRAFFIC IMPACTS: 

Flagger and pilot car operations through mid-August, with delays up to 20 minutes.

WEEKLY WORKLOAD: 

The contractor has installed the bridge rail on the Tazlina Bridge. The bridge is no longer restricted to half width. The contractor will be paving the approaches up to the bridge and next week they will install guardrail and transitions to the bridge rail. 

Work on the Klutina Bridge started this week and will be reduced width for about a month. For the remainder of the season, the contractor will cut out the barriers and replace with curb and rail. This project anticipates being done for the season around mid - September. 

Next season, bridge work will include deck repairs and polyester overlay on the Tazlina and Klutina bridges.
