Because this site is built on the Blogger platform, it uses Google analytics to see what stories viewers are reading. The Copper River Country Journal does not store or use your information directly unless you email, call or send a request.

The Journal site automatically collects, through its Blogger system, personal data to power our built-in site analytics which are useful to us in understanding what readers want to read. These include automatically produced graphs of which specific stories are being read at any one time – for example in the last 24 hours or last week or month. This allows the Journal to see which types of stories are most interesting and relevant to readers during particular seasons or news events.

The site keeps a running tally of the pages that are visited and automatically collects a list of the top stories being read and posts them on the sidebar, under “Today’s Top Journal Stories” for the public to view.

The analytics system automatically notes “top referrers” to this site, including Google, DuckDuckGo, and Bing.
The type of browser used is also noted, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and so on. The type of keywords people are looking for are noted.

Also noted are the number of views from various countries – including for example, the United States, France, Austria and so on. Identities and specific locations are not listed on the analytics.

We use this information to learn about site traffic and activity so we can improve our work. It helps us know how many people visit our site, what they are looking at and what they are interested in. However, we do not personally see anyone’s email address, or location, name or other identifying information – or personally have access to anyone’s data. The goal of using these statistics is to help us make a website that is more useful and relevant to you, our visitor. And to bring you pertinent local news.
