Betty Person, Formerly Of Copper Center
"Betty" (Elizabeth Ann Frank) Taylor, Tonsgard, Ditman, Person passed away on October 15th, 2021 at the age of 82 at home in Valdez. Her family was by her side.
Betty was born in Cordova on December 22nd, 1938. She lived in Katella, Cordova, Wrangell, Valdez & Copper Center.
For many years, Betty lived in her cabin on the hill in Copper Center. She was well known for her meals and pies at home and at the placer mine in Chicken.
She was a true Alaskan woman; a homemaker who loved to cook, hunt, fish, mine for gold, pick berries... She made the best kippered salmon, to share with friends and family.
She's survived by her husband, Slim Person and her three children: Lynn Taylor of Anchorage, Richard Tonsgard of Valdez, and Robert Ditman of Valdez. She's also survived by her sister, Dutch Mongeon of Wrangell, her brother Jesse Frank of Wrangell, five grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
