One Person Injured, Another "Unaccounted For" Say Troopers

In response to a query from the Country Journal, the Troopers responded as follows:
Thanks for reaching out. I have answers to your questions below in red. This investigation is active and ongoing. More information will be released as we have updates. The residence was located near Mile 27.
How was it discovered? The injured person alerted a neighbor, who called for help.
Reason given for fire? The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Who went out to check what caused it? The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the origin and cause of the fire and responded to the scene.
Was the other person actually killed? Any evidence?One adult is unaccounted for. The investigation is ongoing.
Status of injured person? He was transported by medics for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
On Dec. 25, 2025, Alaska State Troopers received a report around 2:15 a.m. about a structure fire on the McCarthy Road.
The residence had fully burned by the time troopers reached the scene. One adult male was transported by medics to a hospital for injuries and one adult is unaccounted for. Alaska Fire Marshals responded to the scene to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. That investigation is ongoing.
