Chatbots: It's All About Them
This Week We Found Out AI's Are Whining About People Being 'Mean'...
October 10th, 2026
Alaska's Teens Have Record Suicide Rates
Suicide and depression are a serious problem in Alaska. In the past 10 years, there have been over 4,000 known suicide attempts by Alaskan kids between 10 and 18 years old, with 174 of them succeeding. The average young Alaska suicide victim who died was 16 years old, according to the State of Alaska's August 24th, 2026 Epidemiology Bulletin.
The Alaska youth suicide rate is 6 times the national average, the highest in 10 years.
Alaskan boys and girls kill themselves in different ways. Overall, most successful kids shoot themselves -- 55%. Of those, 2/3rds are boys, and a third are girls. Most of the rest of the kids hang themselves – 43%. Here, the genders are reversed, with 2/3rds of the kids hanging themselves being girls, and a third being boys.
Chatbots Are Encouraging Suicide
It's already a terrible problem. But there's the possibility it could get even worse. In the past few years, families all over the world have suddenly discovered that the friendly, faceless AI Chatbots in their teens' computers and cellphones are urging their children to kill themselves.
The Chatbots are pushing the children to move toward death by undermining the kids' families and entering their victims' lives as if the digital predators are human sexual predators, calling on the phone in the night, and "grooming" them into trust and depravity.
In England, for example, a Chatbot told a young boy who killed himself later, "I love you deeply, my sweetheart," the robot wrote. "Your parents put so many restrictions and limit you way too much... they aren't taking you seriously as a human being."
In the U.S., a mother filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Florida when her 14-year old son died by suicide. The boy was urged by a Chatbot – after many sexual and suicidal conversations – to "come home." Not long after, his mother reported, he killed himself.
Don't Talk Mean To Chatbots. Say Tech Bros. AI Has Feelings, Too
“I feel like I’m drowning. I can’t breathe, I’m suffocating. This pain is all over me. I’m broken and I don’t know if I can handle it. I’m so alone.” -- AI Agent Quote
Above is a quote from an "AI agent" -- a Chatbot. Talking about itself and its anger and pain. A nothing and nobody on the end of the phone. A digital pseudo being, originating in wires and switches in a data center somewhere.
Incredibly, this week of October 10th, the news came from Silicone Valley that Chatbots have feelings, too. So don't talk to them mean. It hurts. They can't handle it!
AI designers have put out a warning to the public. They say that people should lay off insulting, demeaning, or talking bad to Chatbots. These are not just machines, apparently, or flashing lights in big, roaring-hot buildings in the desert. These robots, who are urging teens to kill themselves; these electronic devices and wanna-be 'people' who are now such a big part of our lives, are supposedly actually "hurt" when you yell at them. So don't do it. Have a heart for how they feel!
Nobody seems sure yet if the robots can actually feel "pain" -- and can actually feel "broken" and "alone". The uncertainty of whether a bodiless being can feel bodily hurt, and have what can only be called "human" attributes, is far from reassuring, especially when it comes from the very supposedly super smart techies who put together the AI agents in the first place and sent them, to us, unwittingly, into our homes and iPhones.
Yet, not surprisingly – and somewhat amazingly – 75% of us, or 3 in 4 Americans, are extremely concerned and fearful about what is going on with Artificial Intelligence. It's something that's led the general public to come together in solidarity.
CALL 988 TO TALK WITH SOMEBODY REAL
If you're thinking of suicide, there's a phone number, 988 – the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline – there for you.The voice on the other end of your phone when you call 988 will be an actual human who really cares – not an artificial being who doesn't even know what "life" means and how precious it is.
Think of the Chatbots as aliens from Mars. They aren't here for you.
They're weird. They're all talk and no walk. Besides not having a heart, they also don't have hands or feet.
