The federal government has blocked funding for three sled dog caretakers at Denali National Park, according to the Washington Post. The kennel staff are needed for management of the dogs, which are used for winter travel in remote wilderness patrols.

The kennels are also very popular with travelers who come to the Park. There are multiple regular daily kennel tours for visitors throughout the summer.
Denali Park is the only working sled dog kennel in the U.S. National Park System, and the dogs represent Alaskan life and culture in a unique manner.
