Hair On Fire, Artificial Intelligence's Baby Daddies Get Cold Feet
Their Little Frankensteins Are Quite Dangerous

Frankenstein. The symbol of a desire by humans to invent
a new form of life.

The fun-loving, bone-headed, self-obsessed computer geniuses who developed AI -- or 'artificial intelligence' -- are suddenly barging their way out of their fancy offices (or, probably for some, their parents' basements) where they've been holed up busily designing mindless artificial intelligence for many years. And now they're hollering the alarm about their handiwork to the unwitting peasantry.

The techies' plan has always been to make something smarter than humans. Recently, apparently, we've gotten there, and these folks are visibly nervous.

Okay. They're not just nervous, they're screaming for mama.

For example, on September 9th, Jacob Coxon, who worked in AI for two major companies, announced that the people making AI were 'racing' to 'gamble with our lives.' He is warning that AI could extinguish human life by the end of the decade. (As a reminder; come January 2027, that's only three short years.)

Rather than sticking with the program and subtly taking down the system from the inside, Coxon has left the building and has no better solution, himself, but to yell into the void:

"Do not underestimate the power of this technology," he said. "These will soon be superhuman systems that can hack anything, revolutionize any field overnight, and acquire real power and resources. We have all witnessed the progress in each of these domains, and progress is not slowing."

This is a noticeable change for these men. The people who make AI are generally fun-loving and adolescent. As an example, they call their safety nets 'sandboxes'.

But recently, when a bunch of AI 'agents' banded together, up to no good, and escaped their sandboxes, and then tried to cover up the escape from we lowly humans, their makers went bananas.

The conclusions that have erupted about AI by the technology's suddenly concerned makers are chilling. For example:

"There may only be a few years left before a rogue artificial intelligence wipes out humanity."

The head of Anthropic's safety group agreed. Talking of the creatures he's been busy working on, he said:

"We really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is (greater than) 10% (chance) within the next decade."

Soon, say the people who built these creatures, AI models will be able to work completely on their own without human supervision. And they are not necessarily any more friendly than an alien space invader from Mars.

This is confirmed by Bill Gates – who despite his friendly demeanor and casual sweater – isn't happy about this at all. Gates calls AI "a foreign intelligence" with motivations that are beyond us. He believes AI will replace jobs, launch cyberattacks, and build bioweapons and diseases.
