BEAR CREEK BRIDGE WASHOUT  EMERGENCY REPAIRS MP 200.4-234 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 

  • Crews are performing work between MP 200.4 and 234.  
  • Pilot cars are operating 24/7 
  • Expect delays of 30 minutes  

PROJECT END RESULT

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Great Northwest Inc. and QAP are working on emergency response repairs to the Richardson Highway.  

Currently we have identified damage at Boulder Creek, Lower Suzy Q Creek, Upper Suzy Q, Falls Creek, Gunnysack Creek, Darling Creek, Ruby Creek and One Mile Creek Whistler Creek, Trims Creek, Castner Creek, Lower Miller, Coyote Creek, and on the Richardson MP 220.5, 226, 230.5, 229.1, 232.1, 228, 228.9, and 209.8. The road at Bear Creek completely washed out on both sides of the bridge, and has been restored to allow traffic to pass.

LAKE LOUISE ROAD RESURFACING

 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 

  • Crews are working on Lake Louise Road from 6:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Saturday.  
  • Be alert to flagging and PILOT CAR operations. 

PROJECT END RESULT 

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Qayaq Construction, LLC, is working to resurface Lake Louise Road from MP 9 to 19. Project work includes minor leveling, grading, clearing, as well as drainage improvements. 

Roadway remains open but restricted to one lane traffic where the culvert has been installed . The roadway will remain open but restricted to one lane.

MCCARTHY ROAD, MP 27 CHOKOSNA RIVER BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 

This project is complete.

PROJECT END RESULT 

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with HC Contractors, is working to construct a new bridge over the Chokosna River and a new road alignment to access the bridge.

NORTHERN REGION GUARDRAIL UPGRADES: GLENN HIGHWAY, RICHARDSON HIGHWAY, and TOK CUTOFF

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 

  • Crews are working on the Tok Cutoff between MP 51 and 66. 
  • Drivers should expect flagging operations, traffic signals, and DELAYS of up to 20 minutes. 

PROJECT END RESULT 

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Qayaq Construction, is working to replace and extend guardrail to improve user safety in three areas in the Northern Region. These areas include the Richardson Highway from MP 0 to 264, the Glenn Highway from 118 to 138, and Tok Cutoff from MP 0 to 124. This project is expected to be completed in October 2022.

RICHARDSON HIGHWAY, MP 138 to 148 REHABILITATION

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 

  • Crews are working daily from 6:00am to 6:00pm on the Richardson Highway between MP 138 and 148. 
  • Be alert to flagging and PILOT CAR operations. 
  • Be alert to water trucks at night. 

Chip seal operation is scheduled to begin mid June and will last approximately 2 weeks. 

PROJECT END RESULT 

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Qayaq Construction, LLC, is working to rehabilitate the Richardson Highway from MP 138 to 148. This project is expected to be complete in Spring 2022. 

RICHARDSON HIGHWAY, MP 159 to 167 RECONSTRUCTION

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 

  • Crews are working during the day Monday through Saturday. 
  • Drivers should expect flagging and PILOT CAR operations 24 hours a day, Monday through Saturday. 
  • Beginning Monday, July 25, crews will be performing paving operations. Drivers should expect DELAYS up to 20 minutes. 

PROJECT END RESULT 

The Alaska Department of Transportation is working to reconstruct the Richardson Highway between MP 159 to 167, as well as construct Haggard Creek Bridge #0576.
