Troopers, Wildlife Troopers And Valdez Fire Department Conducted Search For Missing Rafter

A rafter who went missing on the Tsina ("Tsaina") River near Mile 32 of the Richardson north of Valdez has been found dead in the river. Troopers responded to a 10:46 am report about the missing rafter on Saturday, July 16th.

The rafter tipped the raft over and went into the water, Troopers said. Alaska State Troopers, Alaska Wildlife Troopers and the Valdez Fire Department searched the river, and found the rafter "hung up on a rock in the river, deceased,"

The name and gender of the rafter has not yet been released by Troopers, pending notification of next of kin, Troopers said.
