Another Ambulance, From Palmer, Comes Out For Patient Transfer To Mat-Su Hospital
NO INJURIES DUE TO WRECK, SAY TROOPERS
TROOPER REPORT
On 12/23/2023 at approximately 2109 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to approximately mile 91 of the Glenn Highway for a two vehicle collision.
Investigation revealed a southbound ambulance conducting a patient transport went VID causing the family member following, to go VID ["Vehicle In Ditch"] and strike the ambulance.
There were no injuries and a Palmer based ambulance responded to transport the patient to Matsu Regional Medical Center. Further investigation revealed the driver who struck the ambulance, Laylah Gene age 21 of Gakona, was driving without a valid driver’s license. Gene was cited and released on scene. Additionally, Gene’s passenger was identified as Jason John age 34 of Fairbanks.
John had an outstanding Felony arrest warrant for failure to appear on the original charges of Assault III X2 DV, Assault IV DV, MICS ["Misconduct Involving A Controlled Substance"] IV, and MIW ["Misconduct Involving A Weapon"] IV. John was arrested and remanded at Matsu Pretrial without incident and held on $5,000 bail.
