How Alaska Voted In The Primary

Open Primary Results August 18, 2026. 

In an open primary on August 18th, Alaskans had the chance to pick a candidate to run for office in November. 

Results are not official yet but you can get a general idea of who got the most votes. 

The field for U.S. Senator and Governor were particularly crowded. Most candidates got just a few votes.

You can see below who got the most votes.

What you can't tell for certain is who will be on the November general election ballot.

That's because certain candidates of the same party may drop out in order to give the top vote getter a better chance. They have until the end of August to drop out. This is most likely to occur in the race for Governor where the two top Democrats and the two top Republicans may decide to join forces with one dropping out to help the other.

If that happens, candidates who didn't get many votes may rise up and actually appear on the ballot.
