Saturday Morning Update
Up early again for an 8 am playoff game for the second day in a row, the Glennallen Girls Panther basketball team found itself up against the Susitna Valley Rams for the fourth time this season.
Glennallen led early, and all the way into the fourth quarter, when the Rams hit a hot streak and Glennallen went into a slump. As the game wound down it looked like Su-Valley would take the game. Fortunately, a couple of late baskets by the Panthers tied the game up at the very end of the 4th quarter and the game went into overtime.
The first overtime didn't have any scoring, so the game then went into double overtime.
In the second overtime, the Panthers took the lead with free throws and then finally got ahead by six points as the clock ran out. That fourth win against Su-Valley placed the Panthers in 4th place at the state tournament.

At the State Tournament this week, Glennallen girls came in as #4 seed. But they narrowly lost their first game by just 3 points against #5 seed Unalakleet – 38 to 41.
Early Friday morning, March 15th, 2024, the Glennallen Panther Girls went on to play against Haines.
Despite the early hour, they beat Haines fairly easily (32 to 23) with excellent defense.
Glennallen will play either Hooper Bay or Susitna Valley for 4th place at 8 am on Saturday morning, March 16th.
You can listen to the broadcast of the game for 4th place live on KCAM AM 790 on Saturday morning.
