The National Average Is Only 1.3%

A law firm named Schmidt & Clark has looked at National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data.

They report that between 2017 and 2021, there were 17,549 fatal crashes in Texas – and during that time 582 Texans died.

In Alaska, in the same time period, there were 318 road deaths. Ten of those deaths were in work zones.

Although that seems like a huge difference, it isn't.

Those 10 Alaska deaths were almost the same percentage (per crash) as in Texas – three times more than the national average.
