The old "pink" Copper Center schoolhouse along the Old Richardson on the outskirts of Copper Center, has finally started the process of being dismantled. Lisa Yoshimoto of Copper Center sent the Journal these photos with the following commentary…
"The team cleaning up the old school has removed all hazardous materials, packed up ready to transport to disposal in town. They will begin breaking down the building with backloaders when the material is gone."
UPDATE: JULY 23The Copper River Native Association, on behalf of the Native Village of Kluti-Kaah, has been working with ChemTrack for the remediation and demolition of the BIA school in Copper Center, a summer of 2025 local hire document from ChemTrack, CRNA and Kluti-Kaah said.The group was looking to hire locally for applicants with 30-hour OSHA, 40-hour Hazwoper, 40-hour asbestos abatement training and a lead awareness certification.
