Healy's Interior Community Health Center has closed down. Healy is a thriving tourism and coal-mining community just north of Denali National Park.

It's not that people in Healy don't want a clinic. They do. In fact, they want more than the health center can offer, according to a September 24th Alaska Public Media story, which reports "they want year-round 24/7 emergency care, home visitation, imaging and pharmacy services."

The clinic says it can't provide those services. The clinic is a satellite office of a Fairbanks clinic with the same name. The Healy facility ran successfully for more than two decades.
