Protecting Our Land, Community & Future
Recycling in rural Alaska can be challenging—but it’s essential. By recycling correctly, we help protect our land, fish, wildlife, and waterways for future generations.
Once collected, materials are shipped long distances to recycling centers. Contamination can cause entire loads to be rejected, increasing costs and waste.
✅ Proper recycling helps:

- Keep materials out of landfills
- Maintain high-quality recyclables
- Support long-term sustainability
♻️ WHAT ROAR ACCEPTS
🥤 Aluminum Cans ONLY (Tip: Aluminum does NOT stick to a magnet.)
- No foil or pie plates
- Rinse lightly
- Crush to save space
- No liquids, debris, or cigarette butts
📰 Paper Products
Accepted:
- Office paper, envelopes, magazines, junk mail
- Newspapers & inserts
Guidelines:
- Keep clean and dry
- Remove plastic windows if possible
- No shredded, wet, or food-soiled paper
🚫 NOT ACCEPTED (When in doubt—ask before you drop off!)
