FROM THE COUNTRY JOURNAL  October 25th, 2026

Russia and Alaska have a long and often sadly uncomfortable history, with Russia a longtime and feared aggressor to its neighbor in Alaska.  In October, 2026, the Copper River Country Journal published three very different tales of how Russia and Alaska have interacted over the centuries. Two of these stories are about Alaskans fighting back against Russian overreach. The third shows a new dynamic between the United States and Russia.
