  TOWNS ALL OVER ALASKA ARE HOLDING BACK ON THE 4TH OF JULY FOR SAFETY REASONS  

Seward is not going to go through with its typical, boisterous 4th of July celebrations, due to an abundance of caution this year. They're not the only ones in Alaska. 

Here is a partial list of other Alaska towns canceling their 4th of July.

  • The town of Seward waited until this Monday to cancel its events.
  • The town of Homer won't have their parade in 2020. 
  • Ester has canceled its 4th of July Parade.
  • Anchorage has canceled its Delaney Park Strip 4th of July celebration.
  • The Girdwood Forest Fair has been canceled.
  • Eagle River has canceled its fireworks display. 
  • The 34th Annual Bear Paw Festival in Eagle River has been postponed.
  • Soldotna has rescheduled its Progress Days (date to be determined).
  • Fairbanks Midnight Sun Festival was canceled.
  • Juneau's 4th of July Parade is canceled and Juneau waited until this Tuesday to cancel its fireworks.
  • Douglas 4th of July Parade is canceled.  
  • Valdez canceled its 4th of July activities.
