On 01/27/2022 at approximately 1350 hours, Glennallen AST received a report of a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles near mile 82 of the Richardson Hwy. The driver of the blue Dodge pickup was identified as Preston Welter age 35, of Valdez. 

Welter was declared deceased at the scene after life saving measures were taken. All other persons involved were taken to Cross Road Medical Center in Glennallen where they were treated for their non-life threatening injuries. The State Medical Examiner was contacted and Welter is being transported to the State Medical Examiner in Anchorage. Both involved vehicles were impounded and are being held pending investigation. Next of Kin has been notified. Investigation continues.
