On 01/18/2022 at approximately 1841 hours, The Alaska State Troopers received a request for a Search and Rescue in the area of the Knik Glacier.
On 01/18/2022 at approximately 1841 hours, The Alaska State Troopers received a request for a Search and Rescue in the area of the Knik Glacier.
Steven Wallace, 36-year-old of Eagle River, had traveled on his ATV towards the Glacier and had gotten stuck on a false bank and was unable to dig out. Wallace’s gear had gotten wet and began to freeze. SAR coordinator and RCC was contacted and RCC responded. At approximately 2323 hours, RCC located Wallace and flew him to the Palmer Airport to meet with AST. Wallace appeared to be in good condition and was released to a friend on scene.
