ICE JAM UPDATE
MAY 16TH, 2022
Ice is now out at the boat ramp at Sourdough, Bruce Cain reports. The river is flowing. The boat ramp is covered with ice chunks as big as a  F350 crew cab, he says. The river is flowing ice-free, except for submerged "sleeper bergs" as big as a Skidoo wide track snowmachine. Sleeper bergs are transparent and "almost impossible to detect." They lie slightly below the surface of the water.

Sourdough is experiencing an ice jam on Sunday, May 15th. The water has breached the parking lot at the boat ramp, according to Bruce Cain of Glennallen.

There's also a jam at the Alyeska Access Road bridge, which runs over the access road.

Sourdough Creek Bridge is apparently not affected. The creek is high and over its banks, but relatively ice free.
