Current Plan: $2,500 Dividend & $1,300 Energy Relief Check

The  deadline for the Alaska House & Senate to make up their minds about the PFD is fast approaching. The deadline is tomorrow – Wednesday, May 18th, 2022.

After days of debate, it looks like maybe a compromise is in store. The Senate wanted $5,500 disbursed in PFD and energy checks. The House wanted $2,500 total. They're apparently now discussing something in between:  $3,800 per person, total.

The paradox of rural Alaskan life is that rural Alaska produces the oil that brings money to the state. But rural Alaska also has extraordinarily high living costs, including food, fuel and electricity.
