Alaska Airlines Gets In GearFlies 17,000 Lbs. Of Salmon To Seattle
Alaska Airlines has been having a bumpy ride for the last month or so.
The company is having trouble answering its phones in less than 5 or 10 hours. It's cancelling flights. And its clean-shaven, uniformed pilots have made a name for themselves, standing in long protest lines outside of airports, holding up placards that complain about the management.

But Alaska Air is right on track with its Copper River salmon spring delivery to Seattle.
On May 17th, Alaska Airlines left Alaska hauling precious cargo: 17,000 lbs. of fresh Copper River salmon, the world's best wild salmon. It's caught commercially off of Cordova.
You can't sell locally-caught Copper River salmon upriver in the Copper Valley. But this is exactly the same salmon we'll have here in a few weeks in the Copper River and its tributaries.
According to reports out of Seattle, which goes wild for the fish every spring, Copper River salmon are currently selling at up to $1,000 each in Washington State.
Bristol Bay, which doesn't have as high prices, is expected to have a bumper run this year.
