52-Year-Old Gakona Man Charged With Assault In The Third Degree After Confrontation With A Truck In A Driveway, Troopers Say

On 06/02/2023 at approximately 2346 hours, AST received a report from a truck driver making a delivery near mile 136 of the Richardson Highway in Gakona. 

The driver had made a wrong turn and was on a private road. A resident who owned the road, Harvel Young, age 52, of Gakona, approached the truck driver and had a brief discussion on getting the truck off his road. Both parties disagreed on how the truck would get off the road and an argument ensued. 

Young was armed with a revolver pistol and made multiple statements to the truck driver about shooting him if he moved the truck. Young blocked the truck driver in with his personal vehicle and at some point during their encounter, pointed the pistol at him, the truck and shot one round into the wood line. 

Investigation revealed Young placed the truck driver in fear of his life. Young was placed under arrest for Assault 3rd and was transported to MAT-SU Pretrial where is being held on a $1,000 bond.
