John Downes has passed away. He led an active life in the Copper Valley as a community volunteer for the Copper Basin 300 Sled Dog Race, the Greater Copper Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Copper Valley Economic Development Council (ARDOR). In his role as an active volunteer, he was president of the CB300, two-time president of the Chamber, and head of the Copper Valley Economic Development Council. He also owned a car parts shop.
With little or no information for an obituary on John, the Country Journal is presenting some news clips from the time he served the Copper Valley in the 1990s.
