Known For Its Deeply Cold Winters, Fairbanks Temps Expected To Hit Almost 90 Degrees Above Zero This Week

(Google Maps -- Weather Alert)

One of the unusual things about Fairbanks is its wild temperature swings. Though it can get very cold in winter in Fairbanks, its position beyond the Alaska Range makes it sometimes hot in summer, when compared to the Copper Valley.

This summer, in mid-June, there's a warning out from the National Weather service that Fairbanks' temperatures will be very hot this week. There's an actual "heat advisory" for the very first time.

Extreme temperatures are considered problematic, even dangerously unhealthy, to those who are not acclimated to it.
