Local Subsistence Users Invited To Participate In Management Program October 9th & 10th In McCarthy

 

Wrangell-St. Elias Subsistence Resource Commission to Meet Oct. 9-10 in McCarthy 

Public invited to participate and comment on federal subsistence fishing proposals

COPPER CENTER, Alaska — The Wrangell-St. Elias National Park Subsistence Resource Commission will meet Oct. 9-10 at the Great St. Elias Station in McCarthy, with options to participate virtually or by phone. The McCarthy meeting location is a change from the location published in the Federal Register due to venue availability. 

The commission provides local subsistence users an opportunity to participate in the management of subsistence resources in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. During the October meeting, commission members will consider proposals to change federal subsistence fishing regulations and receive reports from National Park Service staff and partner organizations. 

The meeting is open to the public, and opportunities for public comment will be provided. On Oct. 9, the meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and recess at 5 p.m. or when business for the day is complete. The meeting will resume at 9 a.m. Oct. 10 and continue until business is completed. If the commission completes its business Oct. 9, the Oct. 10 meeting will not be held. 

The meeting agenda and supporting materials will be posted approximately one week before the meeting at go.nps.gov/2026FallSRCMeeting. Information about the federal subsistence fishing proposals is available through the Office of Subsistence Management.
