For weeks, the airlines have been crowing how busy the airports would be during the holidays. But Covid-19, followed by cold weather in Seattle has overwhelmed Alaska Airlines.

On Christmas, due to Covid, Alaska Airlines cancelled 26 flights on December 23rd and 24th, due to Covid.

Recently, Alaska Airlines cancelled almost 200 flights on a single day. The company is cutting departures out of Seattle by 20%.

The extent of the combined weather and Covid problem has led the airlines to ask for help from the traveling public. On Wednesday, December 29th, 2021, it asked passengers to just not fly.

Alaska Air is offering a "flexible travel policy" which lets you reschedule for free until January 16th.
