Kids Are Getting Really Sick
Anchorage pediatricans (doctors who treat children) say they haven't seen so many sick Alaskan kids in hospitals with very bad illnesses in a long time.
According to an ADN story, small children are filling up Anchorage's hospitals, including Providence and Alaska Native Medical Center.
During the worst of Covid, there wasn't much flu going around, because people took lots of precautions. Children were generally spared from Covid. But these new diseases -- flu and something called RSV -- target the very young.
It's important to make sure you watch for any illness in your small children.
THINGS TO WATCH FOR IN SMALL CHILDREN
• FEVER and DIFFICULTY BREATHING
• DEHYDRATION and inability to drink water.
• FAST BREATHING
• NOT WAKING UP
