Copper Valley Residents Rally Against Public Employee Firings

Around 20 Copper Valley residents gathered on March 8th to for a walk through Glennallen to protest the Trump Administration’s firings and buyouts of federal employees.
Trump and the extra-governmental agency he created that is headed by Elon Musk, DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), have cut employees in a wide swath of federal agencies, including the Veterans Administration, Park Service, Education Department, IRS, federal Health agencies and the Commerce department, including watchdog and consumer protection organizations.
Rally participants expressed concern that the personnel cuts are not addressing issues of efficiency but are damaging necessary public services. Cuts to Veterans services, Social Security, nursing home and home care services, and NPS and BLM resources for travelers and tourists were among the stated specific concerns for the Copper Valley.
Rally participants walked from the Glennallen Courthouse to the IGA grocery store and back, carrying signs expressing their concerns.
