WAYBACK WITH THE JOURNAL

October 15- 5 pm it started to snow. The first of the season and the lady friend and I took our cocktails and sat by the window, watching the soft flakes drift down all over the area. It was beautiful.

October 16-Awoke to a big beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering the landscape. What a fantastic sight. Every tree and shrub covered with a beautiful white mantel. I shoveled snow for the first time this year and I loved it. I did both of our driveways and our sidewalk.

Later the snow plow came along and covered up the sidewalk with compacted snow from the street. So I shoveled it again.

November 1-It snowed 6 inches last night and the temperature dropped to 20 degrees below zero. I shoveled the driveway and sidewalk again and the snowplow came by and did its trick again.

November 15-Sold my car and bought a dog sled so that I can get through the snow. Brought new dogs for my lady friend's sled.

December 1-Fell on my bottom on the ice in the driveway. All that was hurt was my feelings.

December 5-Still below zero in the mornings and icy roads. Makes for tricky sledding.

December 15-Had another 14" of the white stuff last night. More shoveling in store for me today. That 8%$# snowplow came by twice.

December 23-We are assured of a white Christmas because 13 more inches of the white stuff fell today, and with this freezing weather it won't melt 'til August. Got all dressed up to go out and shovel (boots, jump suit, heavy jacket, scarf, earmuffs, gloves, etc.) Got an urgent call to the can.

January 2-Was going to go ice fishing today, but my worms froze and I didn't want the fish to break their teeth on my bait.

January 15-If I ever catch the son-of-a-gun who drives that snowplow, I'll drag him through the snow by his hair.

I think he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes down the road at 100 miles per hour and throws snow all over what used to be my driveway.

January 30-They predict 28 more inches of the white stuff tonight. Do they know how many shovelfuls of snow 28 inches is? The snowplow driver came by asking for donations. I hit him over the head with the snow shovel.

February 15-We got ten feet of snow and then some. I must be going snow blind or have a severe case of cabin fever because the lady friend is beginning to look good to me.

March 1-The toilet froze. If you go outside, don't eat the yellow snow.

April 15-I set fire to the cabin. Now that white stuff won't cling to the roof.
