Here's some good news for hard times. Ron Vachris, the CEO of Costco, has just vowed that "the best lunch in town only costs $1.50" -- and the super cheap, super popular hot dog and pop combo is here to stay.
The CEO of Costco just ran an Instagram post showing himself eating a hot dog and drinking an endless paper cup of pop in a Costco food court.
By comparison...
Recently, the head of the Department of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, told the public that the ideal low-cost meal for Americans who were strapped for cash was "a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, corn tortilla, and one other thing." She said Americans could eat that diet for only $3 a meal.
Costco is beating her choice by half.
