In the AI version of Fast Eddy's, the famed local restaurant is magically turned into a tiny, made-up log cabin. It's not on the straightaway of the Alcan. It's on a hill, on a winding road. It's on the wrong side of the Alcan. The trees look like watercolors. The terrain is – perhaps – more like the Denali Highway than Tok.
The Journal wrote to Nick Young, whose family owns Fast Eddy's, and asked what they thought about this rendering of their place. Here's what Nick wrote back. He said that absolutely nothing in the You Tube site was recognizable to him, or accurate:
FAST EDDY'S ISN'T BUYING IT: ZERO PERCENT TOK
When Nick Young, at Fast Eddy's in Tok, took one look at the YouTube video the Country Journal found on the web about the Mukluk Fire, and the Journal asked him: "Do you agree that a lot of that is not Tok? Like what percent?" Nick answered with a single comment.
"I would say zero percent. I did not see one image or video portion of that video that resembled anything in Tok."
