Work Until Mid-June On Resurfacing Of Tazlina River Bridge, Says DOT

 

Richardson Hwy MP 97-106.5 Resurfacing

Project Overview: Resurface the Richardson Highway from Milepost 97 to 106.5. This preventative maintenance project will improve road safety and extend the highway’s service life. Work in 2026 includes bridge deck resurfacing on the Tazlina and Klutina bridges and field painting of some steel structures at Tazlina.

Status: Crews have been focused on concrete bridge deck removal, field painting preparation, abrasive blasting operations, and corbel wall work. 

Concrete bridge deck removal began on the downstream lane of the Tazlina River Bridge. Grinding was completed in multiple panels, with several passes made to reach the required 3/4-inch removal depth. Field painting preparation has begun, including setting up containment for the steel girder painting work and abrasive blasting operations to prepare for coating. 

Traffic Impacts: Single lane 24-hour traffic control operations in place on the Tazlina Bridge until mid-June. Work at Klutina Bridge is scheduled to begin June 11 and is expected to take approximately three weeks. During construction, the bridge will be reduced to one lane during daytime hours
