Alaska On The Whole Is Third Hardest Hit State In The Nation 

Many Programs, From SBA To NOAA, To Disease Control, Are Considered 'Wasteful' 

The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development has issued an August, 2026  report on federal jobs. The report shows that Alaska was the third most-affected state in America, losing large percentiles of workers from the 'DOGE' federal firings. 

In Alaska itself, the North Slope and Petersburg had the heaviest cuts, with over 10% of federal workers fired. 

Next in line was the Northwest Arctic, the areas southeast of Fairbanks (including Tok and Delta) the Copper Valley, Juneau, the Aleutians and Prince Of Wales.
