Glennallen Expects At Least 2,100 Visitors In June
The Greater Copper Valley Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center is seeing a significant increase in visitors coming into the building this year. Tok also is seeing more visitors at the Tok Center: around 100 a day.
Said Dale Oja of the Chamber,"We're way above the last two years and a little less than 2019. We keep a daily tally."
MAY COMPARISONS:
The increases began in May. This May, there were 636 visitors entering the center, which is located at the Hub in Glennallen. Last May, 478 people came in.
MAY 15TH - JUNE 15TH COMPARISONS
Shirley Cain, who works at the Chamber gave the following comparisons for the mid-May to mid-June counts for the past four years:
JUNE COMPARISONS:
The Visitor Information Center is currently averaging 70 visitors a day this June. The highest day brought in 95 people a few days ago
Last year, 1,600 people came into the VIC in Glennallen in the month of June, Dale Oja said. That's an average of around 52 people a day.
Peak season for visitors is July.
The Country Journal took photographs at the Hub Junction on Monday, and activity there is much higher than a week ago.
Historically, most roadside tourism coming in from Outside doesn't really get started along the road system until around June 15th.
