UPDATE
Alaskan Girl Helped Apprehend Suspect
A July, 2022 press release from Troopers about a pornographer soliciting naked photos from children in Alaska and elsewhere has lead to an Alaska-based FBI investigation and the arrest of man in Malaysia.
A story on Alaska Public Media in October said a tip by an Alaskan girl who was caught in the trap led to the arrest. The scheme, said Troopers, involved luring children into taking nude photos and videos of themselves. If they tried to stop, the pornographer would threaten to send the original photos to every "friend" the child had. Apparently, said federal prosecutors, hundreds of children were ensnared in the trap, and in many cases, nude photos were released to everyone the children knew.
The girl from Alaska successfully stood up to the perpetrator, they said, and reported him. Allegedly, the perpetrator had victims in 15 states, said Alaska Public Media.
If you know anything about this, dial 1-800-CALL-FBI.

Nude Photos: Always A Terrible Idea
Troopers Warn Teens Of Blackmail
Alaska State Troopers have gotten reports of a cyber-crime trend impacting Alaskan youth.
The scheme, referred to as “sextortion,” typically involves a scammer posing as a youth online and developing a relationship with a youth victim. The scammer then asks for inappropriate photos or videos of the victim. The scammer will demand money and threaten to release the nude photos to family, local community members, and schools if the victim does not pay.
Victims of this crime SHOULD NOT PAY THE SCAMMER. There is no guarantee the scammer will not release the photos anyway. If someone falls victim to this scheme, they should report it IC3.gov and your Alaska State Troopers.
