DOT Turns Out The Lights On The Denali & McCarthy Roads. The Party's Over

 Seasonal Road Maintenance Has Ended On Denali Highway & McCarthy Road Until Spring Comes Around Next May

Denali Highway

The Denali Highway runs from Paxson on the Richardson to Cantwell on the Parks Highway. Maintenance by State DOT crews ended October 1st. Crews will begin working on the 138 mile road to open it up again in late April. DOT says it'll take 8 people, working for 3 weeks, to open the road from both sides. It's usually open again by May 15th.

McCarthy Road

The McCarthy Road runs from the Edgerton Highway in Chitina to McCarthy. Regular maintainance of this 61 mile road will resume in the spring. DOT says the McCarthy Road may be plowed periodically through the winter, so crews can clear the McCarthy runway for planes.
