AHTNA INC.
NOTICE FROM AHTNA TO COUNTRY JOURNAL , MAY 15TH:
Due to the Ahtna building being connected to the city sewer system, we have temporarily closed the office and requested our staff to work remotely from home. However, we want to assure shareholders that our main line is still operational, and we continue to accept calls as usual. Additionally, we remain accessible through email and will promptly respond to any inquiries or messages.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 17TH
TUESDAY, MAY 16TH
STEVE GALLAGHER, CROSS ROAD MEDICAL CENTER
"Cross Road is open and will remain open. As a safety precaution we did have a couple of porta- potties delivered. Other than that it's business as usual."
SCOTT HILL, KCAM RADIO
"KCAM is an island in the flood… Praise the Lord! The only critical effect to the station and staff is the fact that the community sewer system had to be shut down. We have shallow waters on our end of the flood that we can cross in a vehicle to get to the station and we have been on the air continuously doing communication with authorities and getting information out to the community on the air. There is also dry ground at the side rear where we can walk across our neighbor’s driveway out to the CO-OP Rd. Our two staff have been a bit busier with collecting the data and communicating, putting in some longer hours to keep the information fresh as possible. We have been able to maintain regular hours throughout."
SCHOOL CLOSURES, MONDAY MAY 15TH & 16TH
The Copper River School District has announced that all schools will be closed due to the flooding in Glennallen.
Glennallen School and the District Offices are tied to the Glennallen sewer system, which is struggling with heavily flooded roads and the closure of the sewer system because its electrical connections are underwater and can't pump sewage up to its lagoon.
JASON SEVERS, OF EMERGENCY SERVICES
"Library is closed this week. We will open after the water drops. Library basement has more than a foot of water in it. LIO has no basement. There are 5 pumps in operation to try to keep the water damage to the buildings to a minimum."
JOHN BECKER AT NAPA
"We are not particularly affected at NAPA as the brunt of overflow is on the opposite side of the road. We are getting steady business in the door tho, The sewer system is shut down as the electric panels are under water, so they are asking to not use the bathrooms connected to the sewer system. Port-A-Potties are being distributed to local business's downtown Glennallen. It is a lot of water for sure!"
HEIKE WILMOTH AT NEW TO YOU
"I left yesterday and could still get out. I don't think I can open tomorrow. I was really worried. I thought it was flooded inside. I have plugs and stuff really low on the floor. It's pretty bad. I hope it doesn't rise any more. I hope that it runs across the road so it doesn't back up any higher than it is. Right in front of the electrical company there's this creek that washes out the road right in front of the electric company. People have to be careful when they drive by..."
CHERIE SPARKS AT SPARKS GENERAL STORE
"We are open and operating normally. We are very thankful for that. Because of the sewer shutdown CBS has provided us with an outhouse."
