People living in the Denali Park area will be meeting at one pm on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, to express appreciation and support to their neighbors who worked at the park, where park employees have either already been fired, or are in weekly danger of being fired in the future.
According to a story in the Fairbanks Daily News Miner, the residents of small communities around Denali who support the event will be participating in one of 433 such park support activities across the nation.
A number of longterm Denali Park staff have been fired, including a park education director, guides and Rangers – all of whom had recently gotten promotions, which made them at risk from the DOGE culling system.
DOGE removes federal employees who are "probationary" -- meaning new hires. But, if you are a longtime employee who has been recently advanced to a higher position, you, too are fired.
The News Miner story ("Residents plan support rally at Denali National Park") says that people in the Denali Park region say they're experiencing enormous stress.
