FBI Offers More Precise Information To KTUU & ADN About Incident That Blocked The Richardson After Bus Was Reported Found Packed With "Old Dynamite"
The Federal Bureau of Investigation was involved in clearing 50 pounds of "antiquated" dynamite from inside a bus on privately owned property just north of the Hub. The FBI told the Anchorage Daily News that they got rid of it with a "controlled burn."
According to KTUU, the dynamite was "not in a location that they wanted to do a controlled explosion" and was moved to "a more appropriate location", and doused with chemicals to keep it from blowing up while burning. The story also said a "bomb disposal robot" was involved.
Apparently, the property owner, who found the dynamite and notified authorities, may not have known how it got there in the first place.
Much of Mile 115 was closed throughout the incident, which took place on Wednesday morning, July 23rd, 2025.
The original story about the incident, as presented by the Troopers in their initial official report (which can be viewed in the Country Journal) was far less specific, and seemed to imply that the bus had been a moving vehicle, out on the highways.
The Country Journal requested further information from the Trooper Communications Department about this incident, but the Troopers have not responded.
